2008年に通訳案内士試験の2次面接を受けたときの記録です。自分の過去のブログを読みかえしていたら発見いたしました。
写真は通訳案内士試験に合格するといただけるガイドテキストです。
日本全国の観光名所の情報が英語で書かれています。
10年も前ですが、話す時に使っているボキャブラリーレベルは今とさほど変わっていないです。その間、英語を使ってお仕事をさせていただいたり、英検1級に合格したりなど進歩はあったはずですが。
これもスピーキングで使う英単語はそれほど難しくないということの証明ですね。英検1級の面接とは少し形式が違いますが、参考までにご紹介します。

Good afternoon!
A: Good afternoon.
May I put on my bag here?
A: Yes,please.
（受験カードを持って椅子の近くにいく）
A: You don’t have to bring your card.
Oh,yes.Isee. （受験カードを後ろの机に置きにもどる）
B: Please sit down.
Thank you.
B:Please tell your name.
:My name is ＸＸＸ. I live… （すこし間があったので先に言おうとすると）
B:Where do you live?
I live in Yokohama city.
B:Oh.Yokohama…. Could you get here soon?（すぐにここがわかりましたか？というような事を聞かれた。東洋学園大学が会場だったが、たしかに場所がものすごく分かりにくかった。その事を聞いているのだと思った。）
Yes! Actually I got lost to get here(間違ってthereと言ったきがする)
Because it was fist time to get the Suidobashi station.
A B:Yes.（両方とも微笑む。）
A:Are you nervous?（が聞き取れなくて）
Yes.（と、とりあえず言ってみると）
Because I am little bit nervous.
（さっきの質問を理解して）

質問1：方言について教えてください
Ａ:Today ,I will ask you some questions as a tourist.So you have to answer as a tour guide.
Are you all right?
Yes please.
A:I heard there are many dialects in Japan.Please explain about it.
Yes,there are many dialects in Japan.
For example, in the western part of Japan, people speak “Kansaiben”
For example,”Nandeyanen”（とっさになぜかこんな例を挙げてしまう。しかもジェスチャー付。）…or “Ookini” which means “Thank you” in common Japanese.
A:I see.well… How do you say “Thank you” usually.
“Ookini”
A:How do you and people of the other area speak instead of “Ookini”?
（意味をとりちがえたことにきづき）
Sorry, We say “Arigato”!
A:Oh! So the sounds are very different!（すごく驚いた様子で）
Yes! They are very different.（大きくうなずきながら）
A:Do you understand “Kansai” dialect? And Are there any dialect you couldn’t understand?
Yes. We understand “Kansai”dialect,because it is similler to common Japanese more than
the other area’s dialects.
However There some dialects we couldn’t understand.For example in Okinawa.
Okinawa has very unique culture and dialects.so we sometimes can not understand them.
質問2：オーストラリアからの観光客が多いのはなぜですか？
A:I see.Thank you. And next question.These days a lot of Australians go to Hokkaido.Why?
Yes many Australians go to Hokkaido to go “Niseko” ski resort to play skiing.
Because “Niseko”ski resort has powder snow.So many foreign tourists visit there these days.
A:I see(うなずきながら)Are there any place to go skiing except for Hokkaido.
Of cours.There are a lot of skii resorts in Japan.For example in Gunma prefecture.
There is one ski resorts….（白馬を思い出したが、自信がなかったので言うのをやめる）
And it is near from Tokyo.
質問3：日本人はなぜ桜が好きなのですか？
A:Yes.Thank you. Any way.Why Japanese people like cherry blossom.
Please explain the reason.
Sure.Japanese people love cherry blossom,because cherry blossom is a sign of start of sprig.(文法がおかしいと思ったがこのままいった)
So when Japanese people see cherry blossom,they feel happy.
Also the season of cherry blossom is very short time, （追加で）about one week.
So people miss them and enjoy seeing cherry blossom during the short time.
A:（質問がききとれなかったが、「それはつまり、短い期間で散ってしまうからということですか？」というような内容
Yes,I think so.
質問４：日本史上で最も有名な外国人は？
A:OK. Any way.Do you like history?
Yes.I like.（にっこりと笑って）
A:There are many foreigners in Japanese history.
Please tell me about one of the most important foreigners.
Yes.there are many foreiners in Japanese history.
I think “ZABIERU” is one of the most important figures in Japanese history.
He brought(実際はbringと言ってしまった) Christian….the Chirstianity to Japan around…（キリスト教伝来が何年なのか思い出せず）I’m sorry I forgot the year.
A:Oh! OK! No problem. Thank you.
（これだけでこの質問については終わってしまいました）
質問５：ツアー中にお客様の一人が電車にカメラを忘れてしまいました。ガイドのあなたはどうしますか？
Last question.All right?
If you were a tour guide of package tour,and one of the tour members left his camera in a train and you already get off the train,what would you do?
Well….I see（うーんとうなり、3秒程かんがえる。先ほどの質問を挽回せねばという思いで必死でした）
First,I would say to the members of the tour. ”Please stay here!”（非常事態にでくわした自分を想像し気持ちを落ち着かせるように感情をこめて）
And then I will go to the office station to ask the station worker where it is,the camera.
Next I will inform about this trouble to all of the members.!(ここも感情をこめて)
And after finished the tour,I will take the camera …or(ここで他の手段を思いついたので)
I will ask the station worker to send it to the hotel!!
A:Oh! Hotel!（うんうん。と納得してくれた様子）
I think this last question is difficult.
Yes.It was difficult for me.(ほっとして微笑む)

過去の面接を振りかえって
我ながらお粗末な面接です･･･。よく合格できたなぁと思います。
結局、通訳ガイドとして働くことはなかったのですが、今でも知り合いの外国人をなんちゃって観光案内をしたりすることはあります。
そんなとき通訳案内士の資格勉強をしたときに覚えた観光用語がとても役立ちます。
- 簡単な単語でも十分に対応できる
- 言葉以外のコミュニケーション能力も重要
これがいいたかったがために、通訳案内士の面接の様子を紹介させていただきました。
英語資格の面接を目指す方へ、参考になれば幸いです。
